Carbon steel check valves are installed to prevent one medium from flowing to another. They can be installed as an integral part of the control system or used as an integral part of the piping system. The check valve is a fail safe device. When a certain pressure or force acts on it, it can automatically close the flow. Carbon steel check valves are used in piping systems to open or close the flow direction. They are designed as valve covers with springs. When the fluid passes through the valve, it will remain open, and when the fluid pressure disappears, it will close.

Product design:
These check valves are designed for pneumatic service and are equipped with standard rolling diaphragm design to maintain fluid tightness. Carbon steel valve body material is vacuum injection molded. CHECK VALVE DEFINITION
Briefly said, a check valve is a protection device that prevents the fluid from flowing in an unwanted direction within the piping system or the pipeline (as backflows may damage upstream equipment).
How does a check valve work?
The valve lets the fluid flow in the desired direction only (if there is enough pressure), and blocks any flow in the opposite direction. Also, the valve closes automatically when the pressure drops. It is therefore critical that the valve is installed with a proper orientation!
Note that this type of valve accomplishes its scope without external forces or actuation. This is a key difference vs. gate or globe valves, that need an external force to work (level, wheel, gear or actuator).
